This project experiments with moving beyond purely functional design to reimagine everyday digital tools. It explores how a distinctive visual language, purposeful motion, and thoughtful micro-interactions can transform routine digital tasks into engaging, delightful, and even playful experiences.

Project Overview
This project explores how timer and weather apps can combine everyday functionality with a more expressive, emotionally engaging experience. Inspired by physical control panels and retro devices, the design uses skeuomorphic interfaces, layered layouts, and subtle interaction feedback to evoke the tactile qualities of physical controls, making everyday interactions more playful and memorable.
Challenge
Everyday utility apps, such as weather apps, calculators, and clocks, often prioritise minimalist design and functionality. Yet as digital products become increasingly alike, the pursuit of efficiency can leave users with fewer opportunities for meaningful, playful emotional connections with the tools they use.

Results
The project reimagined timer and weather apps through a cohesive visual language inspired by retro control panels. Tactile-looking controls, layered surfaces, and expressive details gave familiar utilities a distinctive character while keeping core functions recognisable. The resulting concepts explore how everyday digital tools can offer both practical value and a more playful experience.
